Jacki Horton

Jacquelyn began her education at the University of Tennessee and Howard University, earning degrees in social work. In 1991, she became a licensed independent clinician. With over 20 years of experience in the industry,  Jacquelyn had envisioned a full-service outpatient center that was embedded in a community. The mission was to provide quality care that completes the full circle of one’s overall health. This was further pushed by her work in the child welfare and healthcare sectors. During this time of her career discovery, Jacquelyn completed a host of certifications and training that consisted of play therapy, a variety of family theories, cognitive-behavioral treatment, and strength-based approaches. And now,  Circle of Health, Inc is a reality.

During this time of her career discovery, all of the training and changes in career path played a part in developing a sound integrated mindset to work with clients/patients in his/her environment. Her exploration led her to consider a wide variety of interventions which included dance therapy. She decided that she would like to have an expansive repertoire for connecting mental and physical health. After seeing the benefit of movement, while working with not only children but severely mentally ill adults, she studied the positive impact on the individual mind and body. Over the course of fifteen years, Jacquelyn has worked with over 100 clients from children to adults in the DC metropolitan area. Circle of Health is a holistic approach to one’s well-being.

We think of the mind, body, and soul as one unit, In a circle, everything is connected. It is continuous, the connection creates a boundary on both sides and allows for movement. The body and spirit of the person can hold in matters that might not have been worked through, life is events that can be illustrated by the connection points similar to a circle. Jacquelyn wanted to continue therapy but wanted something for the non-traditional clients who found therapy to be too psychoanalytical.

In 2021, Jacquelyn completed her certification as a Life and Health Coach with the Health Coach Institute, an accredited nationally and internationally known company.

Since then, Jacquelyn has provided coaching in the areas of health/nutrition, love, and relationship, career, and finance. To date, she has worked with 21 individuals, one couple, and one group. In 2022, Jacquelyn became a certified Lifestyle Diabetes Coach through the Center of Control Disease (CDC). Jacquelyn worked for Providence Health System to provideto assist pre-diabetic clients with supportive counseling and coaching for one year.

In the Therapy realm, Jacquelyn works with young adolescents to seniors who have diagnoses of depression, anxiety, ADHD, Borderline Traits, and Bipolar I and II.
